As reported by Ian Rapoport, the Bengals activated their fifth year starting linebacker, Vontaze Burfict.

Burfict’s three game suspension ended on Monday and the NFL granted the Bengals a three day exemption to figure out what player they wanted to waive to make room for Burfict. The casualty was linebacker Trevor Roach. Roach was a practice squad player who made the 53-man roster last year after a knee injury to Emmanuel Lamur in week 17. Roach will be eligible to return to the Bengals’ practice squad if he clears waiver Friday.
QB Rankings: Wentz & Prescott climb into top five
Injuries: Updates on Gronk, Dez, Russell Wilson
Burfict ‘s suspension was for repeated player safety violations in 2015. The most memorable was the helmet to helmet hit on Antonio Brown at the end of the wild card game last year. Burfict was able to practice this week but it was his first practice in almost a month. Burfict practiced some in the preseason but started the training camp on the Non-football injury list.
Despite the lack of practice time, the defense could use a boost to get over their two-game skid. Bengals will love having Burfict back and hopefully he can help get pressure on a Dolphins offensive line that is banged up.
Burfict should play about half the Bengals’ defensive snaps as reported by Adam Caplan.
