The Washington Redskins have important decisions to make regarding Free Agency. A quick look at the NFL calendar has theĀ 2017 NFL Pre-Season starting earlier this season. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be on Saturday August 5th, but the HOF game will be played on the previous Thursday night, August 3rd.

Of course long before the HOF game, we have the aforementioned Free Agency and the 2017 NFL Draft. I do predict quarterback Kirk Cousins will receive a long-term contract by Feb 28th for about 22,24 million a year. Then our two great receivers DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon will be signed with new contracts or released.

There will be some Free Agents in the market that our Redskins should consider. I like Guard Larry Warford presently with the Detroit Lions. In my view, our Redskins need a better runblocking, pass-protecting Left Guard. Warford is 6’3″ tall, 333 lbs of nasty, slobber-knocking blocks. Of course there will be some big names who will be looking to sign big money contracts with other teams. However, I believe our GM Scot McCloughan will not spend alot of money on Free Agents, unless he could get a Eric Berry of the KS Chief, Safety which we need. He may find us a big stonewall nosetackle, another position we need to improve.

Then we will have the NFL Draft and our first pick at this time is First Round, pick 22. General Manager Scot McCloughan and President Bruce Allen both have that coaches eye and can find a diamond in the rough in later rounds. GM McCloughan usually picked the best player available regardless of position for his top pick,1st pick in the 1st round. Most sports people agree our Redskins need to draft defensive players this 2017 NFL Draft. We definitely need a speed pass-rusher to add to our Defensive Line. In 2015 and 2016, our defense was near last in stopping the other teams running-game. We also need a true safety or two.

It will be interesting to watch because our Offensive Coordinator Sean McVay is not with our team anymore as he is the headcoach of the Los Angeles Rams. I do think Bill Callahan will have a big input in the offensive game plans which would mean more balance by more running plays. I hope we can get some offensive line depth in the draft at Center and Left Guard especially.

We also have some 2016 NFL Draftees who were not able to play much in 2016 due to unfortunate injuries. Josh Doctson was our Number One Draft pick but only played in two games. Speedster Keith Marshall should also be healthy and ready to play also. He is one of the fastest runningbacks in the NFL. 4.29 and 4.31 in the Combine in 2016,official times.

I believe in our Washington Redskins leadership, coaches, and our foundation of solid players. General Manager Scot McCloughan has been with our team for two seasons, two NFL Drafts now and has done an exceptional job in those two drafts. I see him doing it a third time in a row in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Our team is very close to being a championship team. They just barely missed being in the playoffs again after the 2016 season. An upgrade here and there on defense should give us what we need to be a top team. Our offense will be explosive again, and hopefully more productive in the “red-zone” to score more points, This offense is capable of averaging over 32 points a game minimum. Our quarterback Kirk Cousins has accurately passed for over 4,000 yards since named the starter. He is still improving and hasn’t peaked yet. I believe he will be a top 6 quarterback in 2017 and we will be a playoff team.

So, Redskins fans, get ready for a wild, exciting, rewarding ride with our 2017 Washington Redskins and don’t forget to HAIL.
