Friday’s Rambling: The week that was for the Philadelphia Eagles

For this week’s Eagles Ramblings piece, the lack of real issues with the team leaves with a major decision to make. What music do I use to get in the mood for this article. With nothing really hitting me after about 30 minutes of searching, I have settled on two, if only for the nostalgia that they provide me in the leadup to the Power Rangers movie — coming out March 24th by the way!

The first of these two tunes which represent my two favorite Power Rangers opening songs of all time is the opening theme for Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. The second tune that I will cycling to during the duration of this article is for my second favorite tune in show history which also comes from my favorite series when I was a kid, Power Rangers Turbo.

Eagles News: Jeffery to the Eagles could be steal of free agency

Despite missing out on their fare share of wide receivers during the leadup to NFL Free Agency, the Philadelphia Eagles look to have landed on their feet with the signings of both Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. Both players present the team with vastly superior upgrades at the receiver position and should set the offense up for a successful season overall.

In the case of Jeffery, I firmly believe that he could be the steal of free agency. Inking him on a one-year prove it contract, the Philadelphia Eagles have gained the services of the top receiver in this free agent class without risking much of anything. While there is certainly a financial risk, the one-year contract makes it easy for the team to rid themselves of him should he fail to pan out.

However, other than that, it has been a slow week for the Philadelphia Eagles. While the team cut Connor Barwin — an expected move — there are still quite a few players on this roster that I thought would be cut. Ryan Mathews and Mychal Kendricks to name two specific examples still remain with the Eagles despite being seen as definite cuts once we entered the offseason.

Other than this, it’s been pretty quiet on the home front. With limited amounts of cap space, I also doubt that we will see the Eagles make another big move this offseason. In fact, the team could even remain silent as it prepares for the NFL Draft, this year hosted in Philadelphia. Without much to do, I guess I will just sit here and anticipate the arrival of the Power Rangers movie on March 24th.
