The Los Angeles Chargers already know what opponents they will face in the NFL regular season but before beginning play, preseason games must take place. Both the dates and opponents for those games are expected on Monday. The NFL announced it will air the preseason game schedule at 5:00pm ET on NFL Network as the Chargers play in Los Angeles for the first time since moving to their new location.

StubHub Center will be the site of two Los Angeles home games during the preseason before kicking off regular season play. The regular season schedule is expected to be released sometime prior to the NFL Draft beginning on April 27.

Already the NFL announced the Cardinals and Cowboys will kick off play with the Hall of Fame game scheduled for August 3 in Canton, Ohio. Last season that game was cancelled when officials determined the playing surface to be unsafe. Typically scheduled for a Sunday evening, this season’s game will take place on a Thursday signifying the return of NFL Football and kicking off the Hall of Fame weekend activities.

Expect both San Francisco and Arizona to be a part of the preseason schedule as each has played one another over the past four seasons. Other possibilities include games with Dallas, Seattle or the Los Angeles Rams. The Chargers have played the Cowboys and Seahawks three times a piece in the last five preseasons and a game between the two inhabitants of Los Angeles only makes sense. Especially since these two will not face one another during the 2017 regular season.

Love it or hate it, preseason football signals a return of the NFL while allowing everyone to prepare for the regular season.
