The Washington Redskins have signed some undrafted college free agents. Undrafted free agent (UDFA) Kyle Kalis is one of them. I cannot believe this 6’5″ tall, 310 lbs. guard from Michigan was not even invited to the NFL Combine. The University of Michigan hosts the nation’s biggest “Pro Day.” Nineteen (19) players including Kyle Kalis performed in front of 11 NFL head coaches, all 32 teams, and 140 NFL personnel. Highly knowledgeable analyst and expert in NFL drafts Mike Mayock noted that Kyle Kalis is a big thumper who likes to beat people up. Kalis is likeable and easy to root for. He bench-pressed and impressive “30” to prove his upper body power and strength.

Former NFL coach of the San Francisco 49ers Jim Harbaugh now Head Coach of the Michigan Wolverines remarked that Kyle Kalis was always in practice, comes from a good bloodline, is really smart and serious about being a good player. I think coach Jim Harbaugh’s remark about Kyle Kalis having a good bloodline was based on Kalis’ father Todd Kalis having been an offensive lineman in the NFL who played for the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

In my opinion, Kalis should have been drafted no later than in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL Draft and our Washington Redskins definitely have a found a “diamond in the rough.” I have watched film on Kalis and he is a pancaking, run-blocking guard with an attitude. Being snubbed by the NFL Combine has given him a chip on his shoulder and he is anxious to prove all 32 NFL teams made a mistake by not drafting him. With the expert coaching of offensive line guru Bill Callahan, Kyle Kalis just may become a starting left guard for the 2017 or 2018 Washington Redskins. HAIL. HTTR!
