This time of year for an NFL franchise, no news is usually good news. So the Cowboys creating a few headlines today is not something Dallas fans want to hear. While most of today’s news was negative there was a bit of positive as well.

Lets recap.

Damien Wilson ArrestedĀ

Ugh. Seriously? Damien Wilson was a candidate to see significant playing time this season, but his arrest last night puts everything into question now.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that Wilson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Their full story can be found here.

Facts are still being gathered about what exactly happened last night, but we do know the incident occurred at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, at a fireworks show. Various Twitter outlets describe the scene as Wilson bumping a female with his truck, as she was tying to save a parking spot. The NFL Network report also states that Wilson pointed a rifle at someone, causing them to “be in fear for their life”.

It remains to be seen what type of punishment Wilson will incur, but whether it be from law enforcement, the NFL, or the Cowboys themselves, it is hard to believe he will escape this unscathed. Perhaps this incident motivates Dallas to kick the tires again on someone like Daryl Washington.

Dak Prescott Accused of Using AutopenĀ

This one hit close to home, as I am an avid sports card and memorabilia collector. It seems as though Dak Prescott may have used an autopen or some sort of machine to sign his Panini Prizm football cards. ESPN’s Darren Rovell first broke the story.

Beckett, the premier company for sports card grading, pointed out the inconsistencies in Prescott’s signature to Panini, causing them to recall the autographs in their 2017 Prizm Football product. All other Prescott autographed cards and items appear not to be affected however.

Jerry Jones Selects His HOF Presenter

Not all of the day’s news was bad, as owner Jerry Jones finally named who will be presenting him at his Hall of Fame induction this August. While names like Stephen Jones, Troy Aikman or even Jimmy Johnson have been rumored to get the nod, none were chosen. Instead Mr. Jones chose his lovely wife Gene to have the honor.

And they say chivalry is dead.
