Using the Redskins Ladies Pulpit is an exceptional, unselfish lady I have known for years. We met via Facebook in the Washington Redskins group ZE Redskins as well as other fan groups. It’s an honor to introduce to you Tela Capri Jones. She took time away from her vacation, family reunion and chasing toddlers to be showcased here in our Cover32 Redskins special feature – “Redskins Ladies Pulpit.”

“Thank you for the opportunity to speak about our Washington Redskins. I became a Redskins fan about 27 years ago when I met my husband. He is a die-hard Redskins fan. Before then, I was a “player fan” and Jerry Rice and Doug Williams were my two favorites.

Over the years, I have experienced all the ups and downs the Washington Redskins have gone through. My husband is such a die-hard fan from birth and I have had to console him during the down times. His dedication and loyalty impressed me. My favorite current players are Jordan Reed and Josh Norman.

As a season ticket holder, and a member of Women of Washington (WOW), Redskins Salute To Service, ZE Redskins and the CRG (Carolina Redskins Group), I enjoy traveling to away games with my Redskins family, including the very popular Redskins super fan Steven, best known as “Rally Captain.” Although our team gave away the game, the London, England trip was so much fun. My favorite away games are traveling to Texas for the Redskins vs. Cowboys games. I take backpacks full of Redskins gear and merchandise to give away.  At Redskins rallies, I stand in line to get Redskins merchandise autographed by players to give to the kids. You will see me at OTA’s (organized team activities), Training Camp in Richmond, Virginia, and other Redskins events.

I miss the legendary ultimate Redskins super fan Chief Zee, who passed away July 19th of last year. Of course, I attended his funeral as we said goodbye to the greatest Redskins fan ever. One of my many favorite exciting game plays was the 2nd quarter of the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos when Doug Williams led our Redskins to 5 touchdowns in that quarter.

About our team: No “ifs, ands or buts!” The Redskins must “own” the red zone this season and our defense has to become a top 10 defense so they can deliver what we fans deserve. I would love to see backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld play more. HTTR and don’t forget to HAIL!”

Thank you, Tela. I saw you getting a big hug from our team President Bruce Allen at the Redskins Salute To Service. As a veteran, I appreciate all you do for the military, particularly disabled veterans.
