Buffalo Bills should avoid wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham

Despite the need at wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, the team should avoid signing former Eagles wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.

Despite the fact that the wide receiver position remains a concern for the Buffalo Bills, adding players willy-nilly is something the team should hold off on. While I would be fully supportive of the Bills adding a wide receiver that could make a difference and has a solid pedigree to back him up, a player like Dorial Green-Beckham should be avoided in my opinion.

Playing for the Philadelphia Eagles last season, DGB was added to the Eagles roster following a trade prior to the season. Expected to be a force in the Eagles offense, DGB disappointed in multiple ways. Despite starting the season strong, DGB only managed to record 36 receptions despite playing in 15 of the team’s 16 games last season.

Seen as a potential number one wide receiver going forward, the fact that Dorial Green-Beckham was released by the Eagles when he is both young and on a cheap contract should concern almost any coach. The Eagles must have had their reasons especially with most of their current starters being older and on shorter deals.

If Philadelphia felt that DGB was a fringe player on their roster and unlikely to improve, why should the Bills add him? Sure, he would likely have a chance to compete in the Bills roster battle but that is because of how weak and thin the current depth is at wide receiver. If he is unlikely to improve, why waste the cash and roster spot on him?

BILLS NEWS: Watkins looking for uptick in NFL Spending

With Sammy Watkins remaining as the team’s star wide receiver and Zay Jones likely to be the number two receiver once all is said and done, why sign Dorial Green-Beckham. Considering his performance last season — with a better quarterback in Carson Wentz — DGB has proven that he needs a lot of polishing.

With DGB last season, Philadelphia did not get what they paid for. Considering the fact that they released him despite how cheap of a player he was tells me he is not worth the time of the Buffalo Bills coaching staff and should be avoided at all costs this offseason.

If the Bills weren’t located in Buffablow, (referred to as football hell around the league), I would agree with the author of this article. Dorial Green-Beckham is a big risk if you live in a normal NFL city. But Buffalo is not a normal city, it’s different. NO ONE in their right mind wants to live in Buffalo. Even the cock roaches in Buffalo are ashamed to admit they live there. A talented guy with no baggage like ex-Chief Maclin would never come to Buffalo and he even knew players and coaches on team.
Therefore if you want to get a talented player to come to Buffalo you can only get a guy no other team wants. A guy who doesn’t have any other options.
You have to take a guy like DGB who has a bad attitude and plenty of baggage.
You know what they say, “Buffalo may not be the end of the world but you can see it from there.”
