Longtime, all-weather, loyal Washington Redskins fan Karen Davis is being showcased on the Redskins Ladies Pulpit. Karen is an exceptional person and is active in Washington Redskins Facebook groups. Here is what Karen Davis has to say in her own words:

“Hail to the Redskins and I am happy to get my chance to take advantage of the Redskins Ladies Pulpit. I thank you for having this platform for us to use. To begin with, I was born in Queens, New York, and my dad was an avid, die-hard New York Giants fan. As fate would have it, his job required him to transfer and we moved to Prince George’s County, Maryland. I did not have any friends in Maryland at the time, so I spent most of my free time with my dad. He loved to watch the NFL games, especially when the New York Giants were playing.

My dad taught me everything about NFL football, including all the rules. I learned to understand offensive and defensive plays. Being a Giants fan, my dad hated the arch rival Washington Redskins. I began to like the Redskins and enjoyed hearing the “Hail to the Redskins” fight song after touchdowns and field goals. My dad and I were very close and we enjoyed our in-house rivalry back in 1979. He loved my competitive nature.

I married a true Redskins fan and we had three sons who became Redskins fans also. I never missed a game the Redskins played. A few times, I lost fun bets but won some fun wagers too. One of my favorite memories is my dad losing a bet at work to Redskins fans. He had to have his picture taken with a huge Redskins cake and had to wear a Redskins hat and shirt. I definitely have my dad’s personality.

You asked who my favorite player is, or was. I have so many, but I did meet Darrell Green, the fastest man in football. I also loved Doug Williams, Gary Clark, Art Monk, Ricky Sanders (the Posse), and “The Hogs!” My favorite running back was big John Riggins. My favorite coach is Joe Gibbs. He won 3 of 4 Super Bowls with 3 different quarterbacks. Joe Gibbs was definitely the man! I have so many players I like on the team now. Vernon Davis and Josh Norman are among my favorites. Of course, there is Jordan Reed and Kirk Cousins. I am also excited about our tall receivers Terrelle Pryor and Josh Doctson.

Losing Chief Zee and Sean Taylor was like losing family. It was about this time last year when Chief Zee passed away. I missed seeing him last season.

I would like to send a shout out to my Facebook friends in all the Redskins groups. HTTR! Thank you for featuring me. It was a lot of fun doing this.”
