Titans Monday Camp Presser

The Titans held a training camp practice on Monday evening. Wide Receiver Corey Davis is still out. DeMarco Murray did individual work and was staying active on the sidelines. Karl Klug sat with a twisted ankle. Erik Walden sat with a groin injury.

“The ones had more, so he had more”

The quote of the night on social media! Coach Mike Mularkey was asked about Derrick Henry’s participation and that’s PART of his response: “The ones had more, so he had more.”

“They’re trying to keep it a secret!”

The Tennessee Titans left that quote out of the transcript on their page here.

C-A-L-M   D-O-W-N!

The Titans have been anything but secretive about Derrick Henry’s progress this offseason. Coach Mike Mularkey has been quite transparent and open with the fans since he took over. I love a good conspiracy as much as the next guy, but it will not happen like this. Mularkey would tell us if Henry won the starting running back role.  In fact, he did speak quite a bit about Henry tonight. Check out the link above. He was far from secretive and the conspiracy buffs simply need to calm down.

Depth chart released?

The Titans first depth chart has been bogus for as long as I can remember. Jeff Fisher did it, Mike Munchak, and Ken Whisenhunt too. I found the depth chart of the 2015 Titans first release. The starting wide receivers were Harry Douglas and Kendall Wright. Hakeem Nicks was behind Douglas and Jacoby Ford was after Wright. For some reason, the Titans always do this.

The air?

Maybe we can blame the Titans PR department or coach. Maybe releasing a bogus depth chart and following it up with curiously omitting a quote fueled the conspiracy buffs. Maybe. Maybe they put that second guessing hmmm out in the air.

Don’t be a part of it. It’s unnecessary. They’ll let us know.

A catch and a half

Adoree Jackson made an incredible interception in practice today. Coach Mularkey said, “He made a play here tonight in the one-on-one drill that I was wondering if he was going to get his head around on the go route and he just snapped it. Right when the ball came in, snatched the ball out of the air. It was a great play. That’s the second time he’s done that. He’s doing some things we haven’t really been consistently doing around here since I’ve been here.”

Mularkey also said the Titans won’t be preparing for the Jets until later in the week.

Radcliff

Brandon Radcliff was a fine college running back at Louisville University. He wasn’t utilized in as a receiver much but did pick up blocks well. He is a small stocky runner with excellent vision, but he doesn’t really shed tackles well. His tough style suits the Titans well, but he probably goes down too easily to stick on the roster. Radcliff was already with the Colts this offseason. Radcliff can run with the fourth group and is good enough to get them some work in camp.

McBride gains a year, oops

Mularkey misstated that Tre McBride was entering his fourth season in the league. McBride is entering his third. He has 100 players to keep track of. This mistake seemed totally reasonable to me.
