It may just be a preseason game, but the Broncos have named their starter at quarterback. Trevor Siemian will get the start against the Chicago Bears. Siemian was the starter last season and did well in his first season starting, but failed to lead the Broncos to the playoffs.

This decision was made yesterday, just a couple of days before their first game on Thursday against the Bears. Siemian will most likely play most of the first quarter or less before Paxton Lynch gets his opportunity.

Now that the Broncos have their starter, was Siemian the right choice for them?

This was more than likely the best choice for the Broncos because Siemian does have the experience as compared to Paxton Lynch and he obviously had the better season last year than Lynch. I though Lynch may have been ready to be the starter for this team but it looks like he will still need to improve.

Both quarterbacks should do well against the Bears who are still dealing with problems of their own, but this game will be a great test for both Siemian and Lynch. If either one or even both of them struggle against a weak Bears defense then head coach Vance Joseph will see it for himself in live action.

I still believe Lynch can make a run at the starting job, but Siemian might be the starter heading into Week 1 which does make sense. With the Broncos going up against a rebuilding Bears team, Siemian should excel and make his case bigger for why he should be the starter going into Week 1.
