The AFC South is a division that has four teams that show promise each year but with one team always living up to the hype. For the past two years, it has been the Houston Texans as they have won the division the last two seasons. That could very well change though. The Jaguars and Titans improved the most out of every team in the division.

Each team in the division improved somehow and someway. Whether it was bringing a key player or a whole bunch of talent to help the team in a big way. The Jaguars are a different team than last season and could bring home the division championship.

The Jaguars are bringing in new talent on all three phases of the team in offense, defense and special teams. Now it’s time for them to prove they are not be taken lightly.

Every team has a goal of making the playoffs, but if your team wins the division, then they are in a great setup to do well in the playoffs. Having a wildcard spot is not a bad thing, but it forces the team to play an extra week while another team gets its rest for a week. The Jaguars have a great chance, if not the best to win the AFC South. A big question, is what team do they need to win both games against this season?

Most would say that it is the Texans because they have been the dominant ones in recent years, but I don’t believe it’s the Texans. While Houston definitely has a great defense that will be getting J.J. Watt back, the offense will either be led by Deshaun Watson who is a rookie or Tom Savage that shows promise but hasn’t been a full season starter in his career.

The Colts only hope is quarterback Andrew Luck and if the Jags contain him, then they will be fine. The team that the Jaguars need to sweep this year is the Titans. A team that should have made the playoffs, but crumbled after the season-ending leg injury of Marcus Mariota.

The Titans should be the biggest challenge for the Jaguars to win the division because of their uprising offense that has both a great passing and running game. The Jaguars have been a passing offense the last couple of years but now have their running game with Leonard Fournette. Both teams have upcoming defenses’, but the Jaguars have the slight edge because of who they brought in through free agency.

The Jaguars shouldn’t underestimate any team in their division, but they will need to practice extra reps when it comes to facing the Titans. Both teams are in a great position to dethrone the Texans. The Jaguars can easily take the season series vs Tennessee, but they will need to play hard every down in both games in order for that to happen.
