When the Broncos defense is ever mentioned, players like Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib are always thought of as the star players on the defense. Another player that is sometimes overlooked is safety T.J. Ward. Going into his fourth season with the Broncos, Ward is looking to keep playing at a consistent level.

Ward has been a major contributor to the Broncos secondary and defense overall. He is one of the more underrated players in the league that doesn’t get all the credit that he deserves. Although he has a great career, can Ward keep producing going into his eighth season of his career at age 30?

I believe Ward can have an outstanding season, but it will be challenging at the same time. He is one of the leaders on the defense and can lead by example, but with the Broncos schedule this season, he could struggle against opposing receivers.

The Broncos are going up against six teams that have receivers that most of the time, are dominating in the passing game. Ward will have to help out the defense against players such as Dez Bryant, Amari Cooper, Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, A.J. Green and Jarvis Landry. These players are dangerous in their own ways which could cause Ward some trouble.

Ward most likely won’t be lining up against everyone of these receivers, but he’ll need to help with coverage and most of the players are still going strong and improving everyday. In this defense, Ward can still produce but going into this season, we could see a decline in stats.

Overall, I believe Ward still does well in 2017 but struggles at different during the season. With him getting older, we will see if Ward can still keep up with the pace of the game. He should be able to, but the games will prove it.
