Garrett Grayson was drafted by the Saints in 2015 in the 3rd round. Grayson has struggled with getting past square one. His arm talent and accuracy isn’t what has been holding him back. It has been his lack to pick up plays and his decision making. Last season Grayson admitted to struggling with the playbook. This offseason Grayson stated in a press conference with the media that this is the most comfortable he’s ever felt with the Saints. He said he knows the playbook like the back of his hand, he finally feels comfortable with his decision making and reads. Sean Payton and other coaching staff said during training camp Grayson has made a drastic improvement since last season.
With all the improvement this last offseason in week two of the preseason Garrett Grayson never saw the field against the Chargers. Chase Daniel took the whole first half, and Ryan Nassib took the 2nd half. Leaving Garrett Grayson without any snaps. Ryan Nassib’s performance was definitely not the best we have seen, but what does this mean for the Saints quarterback situation? I think this could mean two big things, one being Saints have given up with Grayson and are seeing what they have in Nassib. Or another possibility could be with all the improvement Grayson has made there confident in him and are testing Nassib. This 3rd preseason game will tell us a lot about what’s going on but what I think what we could see is with Drew probable to play, I can see Drew having the first quarter, Daniel the 2nd quarter and lastly Grayson the 2nd half. What might be going on is Grayson and Nassib fighting for that 3rd QB spot and the Saints want them to see the field more to make there final decision. With the 3rd preseason game approaching is Garrett Grayson on the hot seat, or is he a roster lock?
