With the Broncos releasing star safety T.J. Ward, the Jacksonville Jaguars should strongly consider bringing him in for the start of the season. Ward has been with the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos and has made a name for himself. He’s produced when he plays and can lead a secondary.

With this Jaguars secondary still young but strong, Ward can be an excellent fit. The Jags already have Barry Church who is well known veteran who is respected and having Ward as well, this defense can be dangerous.

Going into his eighth season Ward has 564 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 8 interceptions. He’s a natural leader who can lead this Jaguars secondary. He was apart of the Broncos defense that dominated the NFL in 2015-2016 season when they won the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers.

There are different reasons as to why the Jaguars should bring Ward to Jacksonville. What are those reasons?

Strong and promising secondary

The Jags already have Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye and Barry Church who all have made some sort of impact in the league. All three of them should do well in this upcoming season and having an extra playmaking veteran with them is an extra boost. Ward can easily help this secondary become a top five secondary in the league with his talent.

The defense looks to be in the top ten overall

This defense that we will see this season will be much different than last years’. While the secondary is stronger, most areas on the defense were able to get stronger as well. Calais Campbell was a huge pickup for them and signing Bouye at cornerback was a great move as well.

Overall, getting Ward can help the Jaguars in a major way. Stabilize the defense and add the veteran who has been playing well since coming into the league is what the Jags should do if they want to succeed in the secondary.
