Predicting Titans claims and practice squad
Here I will “take a shot” at predicting which players will be on the Titans practice squad and which players they will claim off waivers. Be forewarned, I usually do very well predicting the practice squad but not at all with predicting claims.
Antwaun Woods- It was a mistake to release him. Titans coach Mike Mularkey stated that he wanted him back.
DeAngelo Brown- Another nose tackle, but the Titans only have one on their roster.
Tre McBride- Fingers crossed that he clears waivers. The receiver has one year of eligibility remaining.
Josue Matias- This guard played very well this summer.

Akeem Judd- Coach Mularkey stated that they were possibly looking for a third down back/scat back type, but it doesn’t seem likely they will sign one. Judd was the best runner not kept on the roster. The Titans always have a running back on the practice squad.
Tyler Ferguson- With Alex Tanney on injured reserve, the Titans will need a quarterback to run the scout team.
Cameron Robbins- The defensive end did well this summer in three of four games.
Darrius Jennings- The cornerback, safety, running back, return man, and receiver was impressive in his short time with the team.
Denzel Johnson- If he is unclaimed after an excellent summer, the Titans would be quite fortunate to land this free safety on the practice squad.
Tyler Marz- Marz often played guard and tackle with the second unit and even received some time with the first string.
Hopeful practice squad additions that aren’t likely
Gavin Escobar- The Chiefs released the former second round tight end. Coach Mike Mularkey stated that they would likely add a tight end to the practice squad on Saturday. Another team is likely to claim him onto their active roster. The Titans may even consider doing so.
Tanner Gentry- This Bears wide receiver had an impressive summer. After a poor preseason by the Titans defensive backs, they could begin improving by trying to shut Gentry down in practice.
Eric Weems- Coach Mularkey not only stated that he wanted Weems back but (accidentally) also stated that he provided depth behind Harry Douglas as a return man.
Will Tye- I wrote of Larry Donnell yesterday. The Giants cut last year’s starting tight end, Tye, on Saturday. Mularkey mentioned how they usually have four tight ends during the presser also. Tye caught 48 passes last season and 42 in 2015.
Jeremy Zuttah- I suggested this guard/center yesterday.
Dallas Thomas- Thomas started every game for the Miami Dolphins two years ago.
Alex Boone- The Vikings had signed Boone to a $26 million dollar contract in 2016, but released the guard already. The Vikes are on the hook for $3.4 million of his salary in 2017.
Scooby Wright III- Wright was an all-American after his sophomore season in college. After an injury plagued junior year, he entered the NFL draft. Wright has been impressive in both the Browns camp in 2016 and the Cardinals camp in 2017. The Titans have too many linebackers right now, but it seems worth their while to check out the former Bednarik, Nagurski and Lombardi award winner.
The NFL allows for an international player to be added as an extra spot on the practice squad
Mehdi Abdesmad is Canadian and may possibly qualify for this position. Several Canadians have previously been on NFL practice squads in this fashion.
