In a game that almost no one expected, the Jaguars took matters into their own by defeating the Baltimore Ravens 44-7. I believed that this game was going to be more of a defensive game, seeing as how both teams have the defense to keep them in the game.
Blake Bortles finally showed what kind of quarterback he can be and he showed it against a physical Ravens team. Also, this Jaguars defense keeps showing promise for the season.
Bengals fall short in an OT loss to Green Bay
Multiple players for the Jags stood out.
We saw a different Blake Bortles than what we are used to seeing. Bortles finished the game off with 244 passing yards and four touchdowns. Three of those four touchdowns went to tight end Marcedes Lewis who was the biggest factor in the offense. Lewis, who has been a small contributor to this team, was the biggest contributor in the passing game.
The defense dominated the Ravens, putting themselves in the conversation as the best defense in the league. They shut down both Joe Flacco and Ryan Mallett so the passing game was not effective at all. The only time it worked was late in the fourth quarter when the Ravens got their first touchdown of the game. Benjamin Watson had the Ravens only touchdown of the day.
Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye came up with an interception each. Telvin Smith recovered a fumble and Calais Campbell, Dante Fowler Jr., and Malik Jackson each had a sack. The defense looked amazing and they look like they will be a contender for the best defense in the league.
With this win over the Ravens, the Jaguars now sit at 2-1 and will look to keep up their dominance. After this huge victory, the Jaguars will face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium next Sunday.
