Jaguars defense steps up in blowout win against the Steelers 30-9

It was the Jaguars defense that embarrassed Big Ben and the Steelers, helping the team pick up the win 30-9.

Talk about a great performance by a defensive unit! It was the Jaguars defense that was the obvious biggest contributor to help Jacksonville beat Pittsburgh. I thought this game was going to be won by either the Steelers offense or Jaguars defense and it was the defensive side that won.

When a defense outscores the opposing offense, you know it’s a great day to be apart of that defense. Two sacks, five interceptions and two returned for a touchdown. This Jags defense is showing that they belong on the elite level.

What’s new around the NFL this week?

Coming into this game, the Jaguars were faced with a tough matchup against this Steelers offense that has an elite player at quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions. Although, it was the Jags defense that proved no one is invincible. Ben Roethlisberger had himself five interceptions against Tashaun Gipson, Barry Church, Telvin Smith and Jalen Ramsey. Church and Smith ended up returning their picks to their house.

Le’Veon Bell was held under 50 rushing yards on the day, making the Steelers running game useless. On the other hand, it was the Jaguars running game that carried their offense. Leonard Fournette once again proves why he could win rookie of the year. He rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers. Fournette is showing that he is the biggest piece to this offense.

Like I mentioned before, the Jaguars defense outscored the Steelers offense. Having the veterans that they have and the young and upcoming guys, the defense is mixing well and we should see more of this kind of performance.

The fact that this defense was able to do this much damage to a great offense, it’s hard to count out the Jaguars from here on out. This team is no joke and any opponent that faces them better have a great game plan if they want to win. The Jags bump themselves up to 3-2, still in the race for the AFC South and will look to get ready for the Los Angeles Rams.
