Week 9 Five Nice plays by the Titans
Here is a look at five nice plays by the Titans. Five yuck plays were featured here.
My gripe is the Titans congesting the center of the field. I love it when they spread the field out and let their athletes utilize their superior athleticism though.
Play one: “Everyone” seemed to like that Eric Decker lined upon the right, ran left, and made a nice catch. I love Decker’s effort. That was outstanding. Notice he has to block one defender then get past two deep. I wouldn’t call that well-designed. What I liked was DeMarco Murray lined up wide (bottom) with 32-year-old Eric Weddle covering him. Why did they shift him to the backfield? That was well designed and an ideal isolated matchup.
Play two: Yes, Rishard Matthews should have caught this pass. Besides that though, the Titans are well spread out and you can see three Titans get open. It was a well-designed play.
Play three: The Titans shift out of the bunched right set, Mariota fakes the handoff, and hits Walker deep over the middle. That was a nice nice play.
Play four: The Titans spread the field and DeMarco Murray enjoys not having to run against eight in the box “for once.”
Play five: Here the Titans line up in a three-wide set. At the snap, the wide receivers “take off” and take the Ravens defensive backs with them. Both Derrick Henry and Jalston Fowler(bottom) are wide open.
Robiske’s offense is beautiful when the Titans are spread out well. Opposing teams can rarely match the athleticism the Titans have at their skill positions. The Titans need more of this and less bunched up plays in the center of the field.
