The offensive keys to victory include having a balance between the run and the pass. In order for the Redskins offense to be successful, the offensive line has to be able to protect the quarterback and give him a little time to read, plant his feet and throw the ball accurately. The O-line must be able to run block and open holes for the running backs on run plays to get positive yards.
I understand fully the tough task our coaching staff has with game planning since there are so many injuries, especially to the O-line. The Redskins very recently made a roster change and waived guard Tyler Catalina to make room for another player. Guards are KEY to running the ball. Brandon Scherff who is injured and Tyler Catalina are the two best run blockers on the Redskins, so I hate to see them waive Catalina. Catalina can play tackle as well as guard. In my view, waiving Catalina is a big mistake. Hopefully, some of the injured players can return soon and maybe we can get Catalina back before he is scooped up by another team.
The most important key to a Redskins victory against the Minnesota Vikings is the play of the O-line. The Vikings have a top-rated defense, with the sacks and statistics to prove it. The performance of the Redskins O-line will be the determining factor. If they protect quarterback Kirk Cousins long enough for him to read, plant his feet and throw on pass plays and if they can run on the Vikings, then the Redskins should win by more than 10 points. I say that because of the talent our offense has in Vernon Davis, Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson, Ryan Grant, Brian Quick, Terrelle Pryor, Josh Doctson and Maurice Harris along with running backs Robert Kelley and Samaje Perine.
Prediction: 31 to 10, Redskins win.
