The Washington Redskins were victorious over the New York Giants by the score of 20 to 10. In this defensive struggle, the Giants sacked Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins six times while the Redskins defense sacked Giants quarterback Eli Manning 4 times. At the end of the 1st half, the score was tied at 3 points each from field goals. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the game was tied again at 10 points each. In the 4th quarter, the Redskins defense shut down the Giants and the Redskins scored 10 points. It was a home game win!

Here are some of the game’s statistics: The Redskins had 17 first downs to the Giants 7. The Redskins had 323 total yards to the Giants 170. Washington also won the time-of-possession battle 34:37 to 25:23, but the Redskins had 8 penalties to the Giants 6 penalties. Each team had one interception.

Sometimes I think the Redskins win in spite of themselves. On a 3rd down and inches, no quarterback sneak was called. They blew an opportunity to down a Tress Way punt at about the 5-yard line but the Redskins player ran the ball into the end zone instead of downing the ball. The Redskins need to convert more 3rd downs; 26.67% is too low.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was 19 of 31 for 242 yards, threw 2 touchdown passes and suffered 1 interception. Wide receiver Jamison Crowder had 7 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Josh Doctson had 2 catches for 28 yards and a touchdown. Running back Samaje Perine had 3 catches for 30 yards. Tight end Niles Paul had 3 catches for 16 yards.

Samaje Perine rushed for 100 yards for the 2nd consecutive week. He had 24 carries, so averaged over 4 yards per rush. The Redskins had a good balance between the run and pass. Byron Marshall rushed 4 times for 18 yards, better than 4 yards per rush. This is excellent because the offensive line is not the same offensive line the Redskins started the season with because of injuries.

The Redskins can get to .500 (6 and 6) with a win next game versus the Dallas Cowboys. I hope Head Coach Jay Gruden designs an unpredictable game plan that has tight ends Vernon Davis and Jeremy Sprinkle involved in it. Wide receivers Maurice Harris and Brian Quick should be included in the game plan as well. The Cowboys will target Jamison Crowder and put 8 defenders in the box to stop running back Samaje Perine.

I have no doubt the Washington Redskins can beat all 5 teams left on their schedule if they execute, do not drop passes, commit fewer penalties, take care of the football with no fumbles and interceptions, and call play-action passes when the Cowboys load the box. Kirk Cousins is the best in the NFL at play-action passes. On the offensive line, the Redskins should use Tyler Catalina more since he can play both guard and tackle positions and is healthy! He is 6’6″ tall and 325 pounds.

Here’s to the Washington Redskins as they prepare to run the table starting with the Dallas Cowboys! New Redskins players must work hard to learn the language and system. I admire the fight in our 2017 Washington Redskins on both sides of the ball. No team has dominated the Redskins and they could have won all or most of their games. They should be at least 7 and 3 right now. We fans need to believe in this team just as the players believe in this team. HAIL to the Redskins!
