Vontaze Burfict

Andy Dalton and A.J. Green have been the topic of discussion throughout the Bengals community this offseason. Everybody wants to know when, if and should they be given long-term extensions. Yet through all this, another one of the Bengals young pro bowlers has been left hanging.

Vontaze Burfict has already cemented himself as one of the best linebackers in the league. During his rookie season he accumulated 127 total tackles, and last year he led the NFL with 177 total tackles.

This guy is a beast.

Unfortunately for Burfict, he isn’t getting paid like one. Because of some major character concerns and a disastrous combine, the once projected first-round pick fell completely out of the draft. Burfict signed a three-year $1.4 million deal with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2012, which means that he is only scheduled to make $570,000 this season.

While the Bengals could potentially keep Burfict under their control for the next two years at this dirt-cheap price, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the two sides are already working on an extension.

It will be interesting to see whom the Bengals lock up first – Dalton, Green or Burfict. So far the Bengals have had the benefit of three of their best players playing on rookie contracts. Soon these guys are going to need to get paid.

All we need is an elite quaterback.Everything else is pretty much in place.Except for the polishing of Hunt the big 6feet8 d end from SMU who can easily become a pro bowler if he decides to get hungry and mean enough
