Don’t expect the Buffalo Bills offense to get any better this week against the New York Jets. With injuries to Buffalo’s top two wide receivers an extra emphasis on the running game should be expected this week. The Bills will go into Sunday’s game with only four wide receivers and they have no plans on adding another wide receivers to the roster.
Losing both Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods is just about as bad as it gets when you consider a rookie quarterback who has been out due to injury the past month. On the plus side Marcus Easley who has been a big bright shining star on special teams will get a decent chance to showcase his abilities. It is my firm belief that he will utilize this opportunity and have a lot of people in Buffalo wondering why we haven’t seen more of him.
Its still a possibility that Stevie Johnson could be ready to play, and judging by how they have handled the injuries to our running backs this season I would not be the least bit surprised to see him limp out onto the field on Sunday. Injuries have plagued the Bills almost relentlessly this year and at no point has the entire starting roster been healthy and active on game day.
When one guy gets healthy another has gone down in a cycle that has maintained full momentum since losing Stephon Gilmore in the pre-season. The first half of the season saw multiple injuries to almost every defensive position as we seen a few very close losses that seemed like they could of been wins had those players in the game.
However after the defense finally healed up the Bills most dangerous offensive weapons have gone down faster than a drunk girl at Ralph Wilson Stadium looking for a Kiko Alonso jersey. As a result we have seen a very dull and ineffective offensive attack which has only scored one touchdown in each of its last 2 games.
The Bills will finally get their much needed bye next week after the Jets game but another loss before then will put them at a 3-8 record. That loss will also vault the Jets into a record of 6-4 leaving them in a prime position for a wild card spot. It is kind of hard to imagine the Bills fighting for a playoff spot right now but its not impossible, especially if they beat the rest of their divisional opponents. After losing to the ‘not so great’ Steelers last week I am already chalking this game up as a loss but maybe the Bills will give me a reason to shout this week. Lets Go Buffalo!
