Nobody likes to lose. It shakes your confidence, makes you feel like you have failed at your goal, and like I said last week it just leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. Nobody likes to lose but it still happens to everyone. What makes a person or a team a winner is not avoiding losing altogether but whether or not you can put the loss out of your mind and bounce back.
I’m happy to say that me and the rest of the team bounced back this week. Washington is a team that is a lot more talented than their record might indicate. We knew it was going to be a fight this week, and after the first half and opening moments of the second half there were times it looked like we were just trying to keep our heads above water. This was a team that was trying to erase the sting of defeat just as bad as we were and they played like it.
That’s why I’m so proud of what our team was able to accomplish. Down 7-21 we could have easily let ourselves lose focus. We could have let them hold on to the momentum they had gained and accepted another loss. But that’s not the kind of team we are. We fight to the very last minute of the game and we refuse to settle for less than what we know we are capable of.
Peyton did what Peyton does and went into beast mode, and I’m happy to say our defense was able to do the same. And just when it felt like Washington was regaining some of their momentum by intercepting Peyton, I was able to get that momentum back with a pick of my own. It’s always an amazing feeling when you can help your team out when they need it the most and that pick is easily a highlight of the season for me. I can only hope God continues to give me opportunities like that throughout the remainder of the season.
Next comes a much needed week of rest. We’ve had a lot of injuries to deal with and we’ve been tested a lot in these past few weeks. It will be nice to have a week off to put our feet up and get back to 100 percent. I’m looking forward to spending that time with my wife Leah, getting caught up on new music, playing some video games and of course watching the rest of the league play this weekend.
When we get back from our Bye Week we go right back to being tested. We’ve got a tough game on the road against the Chargers who have been playing well against some really good teams this year. Then we play another division rival, the undefeated Chiefs, and you know we want to be the first team that hands them a loss. After that it’s back on the road for two weeks to play New England, who always represent a threat, followed by another one with the Chiefs in Kansas City.
Luckily my team and I love a challenge. We know these next several weeks will probably be the biggest test of the season for us. This weekend off couldn’t come at a better time but we already can’t wait to get back out there and play like the elite team we truly know that we are. As always, I want to thank you for your support and all of the tweets and messages after Sunday’s game. I love my fans and I can’t wait to get back out there and ball out for y’all.
