Yesterday, we examined the Rams’ need at inside linebacker, which means today it’s time to figure out who’s the best inside linebacker the Rams have ever drafted.

First off, here is the list of all the linebackers the Rams have drafted. Annoyingly, the list is not separated into outside and inside linebacker, so I had to do a bit of sifting. But I found the winner.

His name is Jack “Hacksaw” Reynolds, and not only is he the best inside linebacker the Rams ever drafted, he also has one of the coolest nicknames in sports history.

Reynolds was selected in the first round of the 1970 draft, 22nd overall. After a slow start to his career, Reynolds became a stalwart inside linebacker for the Rams. He played 11 total seasons for the Rams before finishing his career with a four-year stint for the San Francisco 49ers.

His 22 playoff games started is the seventh-most of all time by any player, and he’s also a two-time Super Bowl champion. I can’t claim to know a whole lot more about Reynolds, so I’ll just leave you with this.
